New Dresses – August 2002

After already having had new dresses (the blue and gold ones) made last year, we decided to get more made this year - mainly because our trainer decided that she didn’t like the new colours she’d chosen after all! 

Personally speaking I always thought the blue and gold dresses where really beautiful but given the fact that we needed more dresses making anyway (to accommodate the expanding number of girls we had dancing) we made the decision to get some new colours while we were at it.

We had a trip out to Manchester in June to buy the new material and trimmings and then set about trying design something different – not an easy job these days with so many troupes about, all having so many different style and design of dress!  Finally, after many hours drawing, moaning, groaning and arguing we came up with a design that seemed to work and everybody liked!

In July this year we had all the girls measured for their new dresses and within 3 weeks they were ready! WOW!!!  Next we had 2 new sets of shakers made (dinky size and junior size) to match the dresses and then some new head dresses for the whole troupe plus some waist bands for the leaders and mascots. Then of course there were the matching laces for the pumps and co-ordinated ribbons for the hair to buy as well!!  The new kit has set us back somewhere in the region of £3000!  We think they look very smart, they are really well made and we are really pleased with them – plus the trainer actually likes these colours too J
